Fourth & State is an independent, experimental football companion operated by Ryan Yepsen. This notice describes the website and its live social-analysis pipeline.

Visiting the site

You do not need an account. Your browser may store playback position and viewing preferences locally. You can remove these through your browser settings. Our hosting providers may process IP addresses, request headers and operational logs to deliver and protect the service.

Public social content

Where access is configured and authorized, we sample public game-related posts to estimate community-level reactions. The live X collector processes post text, identifiers and timestamps temporarily to filter and deduplicate samples. It does not request author profiles or build individual fan profiles.

Sampled text is sent to OpenAI for sentiment and sports-reaction classification. We do not use it to train or fine-tune models. Classification requests disable response storage; this does not guarantee zero retention by the provider, whose own terms and retention settings apply.

The live collection pipeline saves timestamped aggregates, sample counts, topic summaries and collection-health information, rather than raw social post text or individual profiles. Scores reflect a limited sample, not every fan or a verified statement of anyone's allegiance. External Reddit collection is not currently active; any future integration requires appropriate access and authorization.

Storage and retention

Game snapshots and aggregate social history are retained to support replay and product evaluation. There is currently no automatic expiry for these archives. Historical demonstrations may include source links and editorial commentary. Contact correspondence is retained as needed to handle your request.

Service providers

The service uses hosted infrastructure, including Cloudflare and the site's hosting platform, and OpenAI for classification. Social and sports providers receive API requests from our server. Links to other services are subject to those services' privacy practices.

Questions and requests

For access, correction, removal or other privacy questions, use our contact page. Include the relevant game, date or public post link, but do not send passwords or API keys. We will review requests in light of the data we actually hold and applicable requirements.

We will update this notice when our practices change and show the revision date above.
